Imagine yourself in the future, a future where you have the chance to genetically alter your DNA to be a better fit for you. That's where Halflife comes in. Halflife is a company that exists in a dystopian future selling energy drinks where each flavor thats based on periodic table elements alters a specific part of the DNA. The drinks do this to maximize your output as a human being, to push beyond our normal limits, to be better.
I wanted to have some fun designing a brand and products that aren't based in reality. I play a lot of video games and watch a lot of shows, and its always fun to point out the brands that exist to help uplift the worldbuilding in the ficticious environment that has been created.
I created the patterns and logo in Adobe Illustrator, animated it in Adobe After Effects, modeled everything in three-dimensions inside Blender, and enhanced the photos in Adobe Photoshop.
Brand Story

Each part of the brand and it's products are carefully curated to communicate it's message. The logo is an x and y chromosome (visually represented, not realistically portrayed) combined and mirrored for symmetry and balance. The patterns are based on computer and circut boards to represent manmade complicated structures to contrast how our DNA is organic complicated structures. When you put those two ideas together it shows how our DNA could be manmade if we so wished in this fantasy world. The cans are designed like test tubes while also being held in a pack much like test tubes are. The structure that makes up the pack is also the same shape as the logo to maintain consistency.
This company is not morally good. I wanted to challenge myself to create a ficticiously evil brand because I thought it would be fun and unique. This company is everywhere, through print ads, commercials, and vending machines on the street. I wanted their aesthetic to be realitively clean and as a base white to show purity (even though they are the opposite of pure) also while selling colorful items to attract the eye. I purposefully didn't include on the cans and vending machines what flavor altered what part of the user's DNA just because that is the company's thing. On the base level, these alterations are really cool like seeing more colors, moving faster, etc. but what this company doesn't want their users to be is informed. They want to control the population, genetically modify citizens to be their uneducated guinea pigs that will give them more and more money. It is very dark and I wanted to make references to that inside the branding itself as explained above much like one would do inside a video game or a movie.
